Fireworks
Every Fourth of July Raleigh residents get their Independence Day fireworks just outside of the city at the State Fairgrounds. Starting at 5:30 the Fairgrounds is open and free to the public for sports, crafts, games, obstacle courses and a mountain bike course. Several bands will also play below is the music schedule:
5:30 - 6:00 - John Vettel
6:15 - 6:45 - Katie & Aaron
7:00 - 7:30 - AB da Best & Rizio
7:45 - 8:15 - Triangle Taiko Drummers
8:30 - 9:00 - Nick Driver Band
9:15 - 9:45 - Graffiti Monkeys
Fireworks start at 9:45. In the event of rain (which is looking like a possibility) you can catch them tomorrow, the 5th, at 9:45.
Admission is free, but you can't bring pets, coolers or alcohol. Get directions to the fairgrounds.
Cary
Cary residents and adventerous Raleigh residents can catch the Symphony free of charge at the beautiful Koka Booth Ampitheater. The show starts at 7:30 with fireworks following.
Downtown Day Activities
The State Capitol will host a naturalization ceremony for 30 new citizens on the Capitol steps at noon. From 11 AM -3 PM there will be free activities including: music performances, historical and military displays, carriage rides, kids' activities and a reading of “The Declaration of Independence.” The Raleigh Concert Band and musicians Gail Leonard and Chris Anderson will perform patriotic tunes.
The museum of history will be showing historical examples of Raleigh's Independent's Day Celebrations. The show is said to include historic photographs of fireworks, parades, Elephants and more. This perfect tween activity is open to children 10-13. See how Raleigh has celebrated the Fourth of July over the years. This program is presented with Raleigh City Museum. On the grounds of the Joel Lane House, re-enactors will demonstrate various aspects of Colonial life, and visitors will be able to participate in chores such as churning butter and carrying water in buckets. There will be old-fashioned crafts and games and lemonade for the children. The garden in its full summer glory will be on view, and herbs from the garden will be for sale. The event runs from 1 PM - 4PM.
For shoppers: Local businesses are celebrating National Independent's week- today is a great time to give back by making sure you shop at locally owned establishments.

4th of July Fireworks Fourth of July
Just watched the raleigh fireworks starting at 9 pm. Anyone arriving to see the show at the listed time of 9:45 will be sorely disappointed.
