Future Islands, Noncanon, Lonnie Walker at DEC

Things have been said about Future Islands and Lonnie Walker, but not much has been said for Noncanon.  They are one of newer bands in Raleigh, although they’ve been playing out for a few months now.  At times they sound like Robyn Hitchcock fronting The Modern Lovers.  According to their Guitarist/Vocalist Danny Vaughn, they have finished up recording enough material for their first record.  He hopes it will be available by the time they open up for Polvo and Des Ark in May.  Visit their myspace page (linked provided above).  You can preview some songs and even check out a video for their song “Come Dumb King”.  After all your previewing perusal, set the date for next Friday.  Get yourself down to the Downtown Event Center and get familiar.  It is sure to be a good time.  DJ Vampire Smoothie will be spinning between sets, so make sure you bring some requests.  Stay tuned for a full show review, with pics, vids and first hand accounts.
