Got to be NC Festival

If you feel like braving the heat this weekend, there will be food and activities for all ages at the fairground. The Got to be NC Festival will run from June 5-8

The NC Agriculture Food Expo will have a smorgasbord of foods raised and made in the state. You can sample and buy these goods in Expo building from Friday- Saturday.

In the grandstand friday night, true horse power will be the spectacle in the Draft Horse Pull.

For all of you bbq-heads, the 2008 N.C. State Barbecue Cooking Championship will feature teams from across the state with the judging on Saturday. Who will be King of the Swine?

Do you find tractors sexy? The Antique Farm Equipment Show will have both both restored and original condition tractors and farm equipment. For a small fee, guests can watch some of these classic machines duke it out in the Tractor Pull at the Grandstand Saturday and Sunday.

If you are a collector of farm equipment yourself and just can’t find the right hitch or plow, then maybe the Swap Meet is right up your alley. Trade or buy from fellow farmers Thursday through Saturday.

Heritage Circle will host a bluegrass competition from 12-5 on Saturday. This section will also feature demonstrations ranging from goat milking to traditional candle making. Kids can listen to storytelling or view mules and other livestock. For closer contact with the livestock and more exotic animals, Circle C will feature a petting zoo. Pet a piglet, pet wallaby, or pet a zdonk (a zebra/ donkey cross). Additionally, there will be pig races several times a day.

There will be a midway carnival with several dozen rides for the children, additional concerts, a lineman’s rodeo, and fireworks nightly at 9:45.
