Opening this Friday is Green Frame: A Month Long Exposition in Reclaimed Materials, a collaboration between Builders of Hope and the Raleigh City Museum that features new work by 16 amazing artists from the area.

Builders of Hope, an organization that provides refurbished housing to low income families, invited the artists to create pieces of art from the scrap materials taken out of the homes being rebuilt. The way the pieces reflect not only what is going on with the old homes, but also mirror the restructuring of the new homes resonates within these pieces, and the artists have all done a beautiful job presenting the various stories through the materials.

The show features new work by:

Jim Adams
DL Anderson
Jeff Bell
Luke Buchanan
Jason Craighead
Dave Green
André Leon Gray
Christian Karkow
Tim Kiernan
Louis St. Lewis
David McConnell
Madonna Phillips
Sarah Powers
Bob Rankin
Doug Van de Zande
Mia Yoon

The exhibit opening reception is this Friday from 6:00-9:00, and will feature free beer/wine, biscuit sandwiches courtesy of Big Ed’s, and DJing by Brian Shaw. The pieces will remain up though the end of the month, when they will then be auctioned on April 24th to benefit Builders of Hope.
