We’ve talked up the new Heads on Sticks album Mocking Bird enough and now it has now been released for your download pleasure (for free!). Head over to the Bandcamp site for Heads on Sticks and grab yourself a copy of a fantastic album that floats somewhere between a Quentin Tarantino film soundtrack, a Beastie Boys instrumental album and a fuzzy view of an african jungle from the beach.
Mocking Bird was written recorded and performed entirely by Dave Mueller (who plays in Birds of Avalon as well and many other great local bands over the past few years) with some additional mixing work by Greg Elkins (Starmount, Vanilla Trainwreck) at Desolation Row studios in Raleigh. Mueller says that “the music was largely conceived while walking around really late at night when everyone was asleep except for me and a couple mockingbirds.”
You can stream the album over at the Heads on Sticks blog and CD copies will be available locally at Schoolkids Records and by contacting Dave .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). While you’re on the Bandcamp site, grab a copy of the last Heads on Sticks EP Oak City Version if you haven’t already.
Also, check out the latest collaboration between Yuxtapongo and Heads on Sticks.
