This Friday, the all-girl scooter club, S2, will be hosting an event downtown to raise money and awareness for Interact, a free therapy center and shelter for women who have been victims of domestic or sexual abuse. The fundraiser kicks off at Moore Square at 8pm, with an “all-wheel” parade, culminating at Neptune’s for a dance party. The parade will not only consist of the three core members on their scooters; there will also be participants on skateboards and roller skates. Rickshaw drivers and the Carolina Rollergirls have been recruited to wheel their way through downtown as well. Who knows…there may even be a segway or two.

S2 member Noelle Saleh says that the idea of working with Interact was a “no brainer.” “They too empower and help out women and that was something we all strongly support,” she said. “They are giving women who need help, but may not necessarily be able to pay for it, access to something great.”

Upon arrival at Neptune’s, fundraiser attendees will be greeted by outdoor entertainment provided by several members of circusSpark who recently performed at Circus Maximus during Raleigh Wide Open. Due to the festive Friday the 13th event date, attendees are encouraged to arrive in costume. Donations for Interact will be accepted at the fundraiser, including monetary contributions in addition to toilet paper, toiletries, and cleaning supplies, all of which will go directly to benefit women in need at Interact.
