Help with information on a Hit-and-Run

How heartbreaking! I was stuck on I-40 last night behind this and as we finally got past, I saw what I thought was a motorcycle in the median. It always makes my heart stop because I have so many loved ones who ride.

My thoughts and prayers go out to those of you here who knew him personally!

Regardless if it is legal or not to drive on 40 on a scooter, which i assume it is not, I do think people need to give scooter/moped a lot more respect than they do—along with pedestrians, bikers, and motorcyclists in our fair city.  That all said, this is very sad & I hope they nab the driver.

This is very sad indeed.  I hope they catch the hit-n-run culprit.

Rick- I think depends on engine size, but the vast majority of mopeds/scooters are indeed illegal on Interstates and other high-speed freeways.  (I.e, all multi-lane roads with 55 or higher speed limit.) 

If you know anyone who owns one, be sure they know that…it’s obviously very dangerous to have them on those types of roads.

It doesn’t matter what is legal/illegal here, unless you want to discuss, of course, the monster that would plough someone over and split. It is a cold, sick mind that does something like this and, in a cowardly way, hunkers in their little shell. They won’t be hard to find. Let’s see, yellow Xterra, NC plates with YSS in the sequence? I’m gonna go out on a limb and venture that someone (a young kid for example)could be in enough shock from this that they are scared and run. But if, after a few hours pass, and they are too fucked up and selfish to turn themselves in and explain what happened, then they deserve to be treated as they appear…like a callous asshole with no regard for life beyond their own.

My name is Brittany I am his youngest sister…
They caught the coward who killed my brother after a tip was called in. The boy who did it was 23yrs old….
He is showing no remorse for what he did..
I’m asking that everyone prays that this whole ordeal is quick, as far as his court hearings, and that he stays behind bars for the rest of his worthless life…..
Please of you are some one or know some one who rides a bike of any kind, know that almost no one has respect for bikes and please please please be safe out there….

please n e one who was affected by my brother and inspired in n e way please write a letter short or long telling the judge and court system how my brother changed your life….thats what he did best even if u didnt realize it he was doing it…not one person that met my brother will ever be the same again, even if it was just for a second.

i want them to know how many ppl cared and still care and how many ppl’s lives will never be the same because of mt brother comming into their lives and because of what gavin hawk did….intentional or not it happened he admitted it and he wasnt man enough to even go back to my brother WHO HE LEFT IN THE STREET LIKE A PIECE OF TRASH LIKE HE WAS NOBODY AND NOTHING or turn himself in.

everyone also gets a chance to get something off their chest…u can even write a letter to my brother…write whatever u feel…ppl need to see these kinda things…..

and if n e one u know has been killed in a similar situation or not just take a moment to speak their name(s) and know that me and my family will not stop till justice is served for my bro and all the past lives and future lives that have been and will be lost to bastards like gavin hawk…...

i am in the process of trying to get n e 1 i can in an official office to back me on changing the law in NC so that it better serves the ppl of NC. I can’t do it alone i need your help….

I appreciate what you’re trying to do.

If you’re really trying to get n e 1 in an official capacity to help you out, u might want 2 drop the text-speak and use whole sentences w/punc2ation, capitalization, etc. That’s what they do, and they respond better to such.
You also might want to give us the judge’s name and where to send the letters you want us to write.

Seriously, I’m not snarking. Just trying to help.

what ever u gained from having him in your life even if it was just a smile
its all about what we lost and who we lost.

of course i am very educated and know how to speak and write in a professional mannor….but this is not a letter to the officials….this is a letter and request of everyone else…..i assumed everyone would b able to understand what im saying.

as far as where to send it i do not have an address as of yet im still in contact with my family but right now my mother and sister r spreading some of his ashes in St.Augustine which is one of the places mt brother lived and loved….for right now n e 1 who is going to type it up on their comp they can send it to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and i will have them printed out and sent to where it needs to go…and when i get an address i’ll post that as well…until then ppl can start their letters and have them ready for when i get the proper information…

i know what needs to be done and i am trying now to do xtra things that may help the process and i know how to do things proffesionally….i’m at work most of the time so n e free time i have i’m on sites like this one sending out my messages and proper sentences and puncuation is a little more time consuming and i need to take full advantage of what i have to work with….and again im sure ppl can understan what im saying.
