We don’t know much about what, but when know when and where. The Hillsborough Street Redesign is scheduled to be completed by early Fall and there will be a big celebration on September 25th. We were hoping for a tie-in with RWO5 but it looks like Hillsborough Street’s Renaissance will have to be its own smaller, yet just as important, party.

Overall, the new Hillsborough Street looks much more pedestrian friendly and I’m sure the businesses are looking forward to the Fall with all the students coming back and all of the dump trucks moving elsewhere. If only those medians had a bit of greenery in them, it would be a bit more boulevard like and even more pedestrian friendly. And just think, without the Hillsborough Street construction, Raleigh would have never “hit it big” with the Barrel Monster saga.

the construction is to be finished this coming tuesday, with some finishing touches occurring afterwards.

seriously, from the project manager himself.  so having this event schedule 2 months later is a bit weird, but whatever.  any excuse for a party is fine with me.

When does the construction start to remove the useless roundabouts?

can we get a grand tour of the big pile of dirt near the lulu building that’s going to be sitting right on hillsborough street for the next few years?

I guess the party is in September because college kids will be back plus it won’t be so darn hot and muggy then.  So that’s a big bonus.

    Roundabouts: yay!(?)
    Construction ending: YAY!!!!
    Party: Yay!!
I just hope to god they don’t CLOSE Hboro St to have the party. Unless it’s an _ironic_ party, like RWO apparently is.

looks like to open hillsborugh st, they have to close it. how ironic…. as a business owner on the street, i know as a fact, all of our fellow businesses are running on vapors. if you change the traffic pattern, you also change the spending pattern. yes, it may look good, but the business foundation on the street is shakey at best. the mayor is bragging that 4 new store fronts have opened….but is there was zero vacancy prior to construction…then the construction caused the vacancies. the mayor also bragged how it saved the tax payers $2 million dollars…... shouldn’t they had invested in keeping the businesses afloat, during construction.
