It looks like West Street in Downtown Raleigh is either the place to be or the place to leave right now. The beginning of the week saw Buckhead Saloon shut its doors down in the Warehouse District, then today Blue Martini closed its doors and now Hipsteria Modern Furniture has announced that it will be moving from its current Glenwood South spot to the Warehouse space of Get Dressed at 600 North West Street.
Hipsteria Modern opened, in a tight below ground space on Glenwood South almost a year ago, in February of 2009. Now Benjamin Clark and his wife are packing up and heading to West Street, a few blocks North. They will occupy the front space warehouse adjacent to Get Dressed. Currently Mel Snyder uses the space but now it seems that it will be an almost joint venture.
The Get Dressed/Hipsteria combo will sound familiar to many in this spot, as it was essentially what previously occupied the warehouse building back in 2008 when it was Purple Armchair. Purple Armchair didn’t last long and Get Dressed opened almost exactly the same time as Hipsteria. This should be a great retail combo. A few photos of the new space are in the gallery below. Currently, Hipsteria is selling a lot of their goods at the Glenwood space for up to 60% off the original price. The shop has a lot of Danish modern pieces, Eames era chairs and other mid-century modern gems. They will be at the Glenwood shop until the last day of January and their official first day at the West Street warehouse will be February 1st.
