Historic Oakwood’s Annual Candlelight Tour (This Weekend)

This Saturday and Sunday, Historic Oakwood Neighborhood in the eastern part of Downtown Raleigh will host it’s 38th Annual Candlelight Tour.

12 properties, dating from the mid 1800’s to early 1900’s, are opening their doors for visitors. Guests will be able to tour these homes while learning more about Raleigh’s history and architecture. Enjoy the sounds of The Carolina Harmony Sweet Adeline’s Barbershop Chorus, who will be performing from 2:30-7 at a stop on the tour on Saturday evening.

The Candlelight Tour is just one of many efforts to preserve and celebrate the Victorian architectural style from a century ago, while allowing friends, neighbors and family to gather for some holiday fun.  And this year a bunch of local partners are getting involved.

3.  NEW!  The International Christmas Market at The Shoppes of Seaboard (Sponsored by Raleigh Sister Cities Association)
    Located behind Peace China restaurant
    Saturday, December 12, 1-6 PM
    Food booths representing each of Raleigh’s Sister Cities in England, France, Germany & China and a silent auction
    Proceeds will support the Association’s student exchange program.

4.  NEW!  Triangle Segway is planning a special Candlelight Tour entirely on segways.
