Howlies Invade Raleigh

Atlanta’s Howlies arrive with great anticipation this Saturday.  The pop-punk group’s bouncy tracks have been lauded by critics far and wide.  Their short rise to success is certainly deserved,  the band’s debut album Trippin’ with the Howlies offers surf rock spiked with do-wop psychedelic melodies.  The Modern Lover’s Producer, Kim Fowley has helped to craft an album that captures the electricity of Howlies’ live show by recording them live in analog, “a vinyl-inspired analog raid on the ProTools present.”

Trippin’ with Howlies is in the spirit of many retro-melodic records of the past few years, Howlies’ influences run the gamut of the 20th century in unapologetic technicolor.  Saturday’s two appearances are heavily anticipated, if the live recorded analog album is an indication that the accomplished musicians are going to rock Slims with a show anyone can enjoy.

The band is scheduled to make an appearance at the new Schoolkids Records location on Saturday 1/31 at 4pm followed by a show at Slims at 10pm.  Monday the band plays Local 506 in Chapel Hill.

These guys will blow your mind. I rarely get this excited about a show at Slim’s. You REALLy shouldn’t miss this.

I am scheduling this show LATE so that everyone that wants to go to Raleigh Undercover can still do that. They are gonna go on right around Midnight, so you should be able to do both.
