I remember these chugging down the street when I was in London.  Steam rose from them like smoke from a rubber burnout.  It was a pleasing site though!

Also I remember when TTA showed their new train on a Saturday in the warehouse district (the building that is now a limo service between Dillon Supply and The Office).....nothing ever came of that and it was the last time we saw a Lite Rail train in Raleigh, maybe for the next 10 years.  Let’s hope this goes a bit further.

The technology has come a long way. This bus was so quiet from the outside you could hardly tell it was running and only slightly louder inside. According to the sales person on the bus, Chapel Hill and Charlotte have ordered 3 of the hybrids. also it was very useful to see the inside because apparently the new buses that are due to arrive in February are the same inside as that one.

I’ll save you the rest of the sales pitch—the salesman was very good—but at least this bus has the exhaust coming out the top instead of the sides like the buses we have now. It’s lovely to wait for your bus while another bus is spurting black smoke at you and you’re trapped under a parking deck.

The buses are made by Gillig.
