As previously announced, the 365,000 square foot furniture mecca opened its doors today just a few hours down the road in Charlotte, a stone’s throw from I-85.

Of course, if you are one of the people who lined up Monday morning at 9:00am for TODAY’s 9:00am opening, you already know this. You painfully, drenchingly know this. (But hey—maybe you got a free dish drainer!)

If you don’t feel like braving the rain, the good people over at eco-modernism promise to enable your Ikea habit and make the run for you.

Great for the Charlotte area.  Would have loved to see IKEA come to the triangle, but this location is much closer than DC or Atlanta.  Guess I need to swallow my Raleigh pride, and applaud a step in the right direction for North Carolina!

When can Raleigh expect to get an IKEA??????

Raleigh, NC would be an ideal place for a new IKEA. Good place would be on Capitol Boulevard (RT 1) north of the 540 interchange.

I vote for an IKEA on 70 in the wasteland between Raleigh and Durham. That area needs a boost.
