indieNC First Friday Monthly Market Debuts This Week

indieNC First Friday Monthly Market Debuts This Week

It’s so amazing to see grassroots organizations in Downtown Raleigh slowly get traction over years. Most start slowly and build each year with the help of word of mouth and other grassroots organizations or local businesses lending a helping hand. indieNC is one of the organizations that has supports local artists and has grown over the past few years. It will now move from having the Rock N Shop Market once or twice a year to having a storefront (pop-up) retail space for each First Friday in downtown. The “shop” will be a lot like Rock N Shop with a handful of artists with tables set up to sell their products. Also, the Rock N Shop will still happen each year and this will be in addition to that popular gig.

This Friday will be the first indieNC event and it will happen each First Friday (assuming that the Greg Hatem owned space doesn’t get leased). The event held at 131 S. Wilmington Street (in the old Park Raleigh retail space and two doors down from Sitti and next to Gravy) and goes from 6pm-10pm.

Awesome.  I enjoyed Rock and Shop and the Market this past weekend.  We were commenting as a group that it would be great to have these sorts of sales more often in the downtown area.  DTR is moving closer and closer to having some “retail” options for its visitors.

too bad some of this coolness can’t be had on Saturday…hard for me to make it out on Fri night.

nevertheless…some mama’s are gonna get some cool stuff…love the indie folk about Raleigh-Handmade Market, Rock and Shop and the like!

Hope it went well, though I’m sure it did.
