After an early morning sound check, James Taylor performed in front of a large crowd at Moore Square in Downtown Raleigh.
Taylor played for around an hour at lunch time today, including such favorites as Fire and Rain and Carolina in My Mind before former NC Governor Jim Hunt came out to speak to the large crowd (about 1/3 of Moore Square was full). Hunt mentioned that Taylor had played his inauguration. Hunt also told the crowd that they were there to support Taylor, calling him the favorite son of North Carolina, as well as Barack Obama. He encouraged attendees to get out the vote for Obama, saying that everyone could get 10 more votes for the Senator.
The crowd was filled with all races and ages, some with American Flags, some with ties and others with Obama stickers. They seemed to enjoy the show and were very responsive to Taylor, although some still think he’s overrated.
