Empire Eats’ first restaurant Duck & Dumpling on Blount Street in Downtown Raleigh makes a big change this week. Chef James Yott Boyle will take over from David Mao who has been at the restaurant since it opened back in 2002. Chef Mao was known for his fabulous Chinese-Vietnamese dishes and very warm hospitality, making his rounds through the restaurant to all the customers on a regular basis. Mao retired at the beginning of 2010 and his friendly face will be missed at The Duck. Luckily, it seems that many of his signature dishes will stick around and will be blended with Chef Boyle’s new menu.
James Yott Boyle, was trained at Le Cordon Bleu, and will bring his Thai heritage to The Duck’s kitchen, with a “modern Asian spin on Thai favorites, such as green and red curry dishes, that he learned from his Thai mother and grandmother.”

The Duck has also added “more quick bites, such as our ahi tuna tacos, and a few new noodle bowls, all at a price that will knock your feathers off.” The restaurant introduces a new lunch and dinner menu this week which can be viewed here. As well, they introduce edited hours, now opening on Monday nights.

Drunken Noodles! Hell yeah…can’t wait to try ‘em out.
Never been a big fan of D&D. I’ll give it a few weeks and see how it is. :]
Love that picture of D&D.
I’ve never been to D&D, but have heard good things. The ahi tuna tacos sound amazing, and all of the dumpling choices look good. Excited to try it soon!
