Fresh off the release of their latest project, the K-Salaam hosted mixtape Kooley Is High, the kids from Kooley High are back downtown to keep the party moving.  As if Raleigh’s most popular young Hip-Hop act wasn’t enough to get people through the door, Blu and Exile are headlining the show.  Straight out of Los Angeles, Blue and Exile are one of the most hyped, critically acclaimed west coast Hip-Hop duos to come along in years. Since releasing “Below The Heavens” in 2007, Blu (MC) and Exile (DJ/producer) have been grinding it out on tour and back home converting non-believers, gathering accolades and packing club venues. Rounding off the lineup and opening the show are the Durham-based D.C. natives M1 Platoon.  Perhaps most well-known nationally for their collaborations with Durham producer 9th Wonder, these guys are among NC’s more entertaining hip-hop performers. With the bulk of their production coming from the upstart Arafat Yates, M1 Platoon has been gaining momentum since first hitting the scene last year with a series of high-energy performances and the heavily downloaded We Not Them mixtape series.
Kooley High has helped raise expectations for local Hip-Hop shows. “People respond to these guys because, beyond just being nice on the mic- they are actual songwriters,” says M1 Platoon DJ and WKNC veteran/alum DJ Gonzo, “They have a way of reaching people and bringing them into their world- not just spitting lyrics in their direction.  As long as I’ve know them they have done their part to represent our hometown and bring Raleigh to the world.”
Doors at The Pour House open at 9pm.  Early arrival has been suggested by the promoters to ensure entry or buy advance tickets here.
