Somehow we keep covering this event, but on February 4, 2012 runners in the 8th annual Krispy Kreme Challenge will take to the streets of Downtown Raleigh. The Krispy Kreme challenge started in 2004, has been featured on EPSN and has become the largest road race, relative to number of runners, in North Carolina. For this reason, the race has been lengthened to 5 miles and the course has been altered just a bit.
The best thing about this event, is that all of the proceeds go to the North Carolina Children's Hospital in Chapel Hill. Just another reason to throw down $20 to throw down (and try to keep down) 12 doughnuts.
We're quite sure that registration will top out, like it does each year, so sign up fast. Register is now open and you can sign up over at the Krispy Kreme Challenge website and see more info over at Facebook.
