YES! In the same spot that the Indie-NC First Friday Markets have been happening (131 S Wilmington Street - beside Gravy and Sitti), there will be a Kung Fu Nation Pop Up record (and other merchandise) store for the weekend of Hopscotch. The Kung Fu Store will be open only three days, during the weekend, September 9, 10 and 11. Thursday 5PM - 10PM, Friday & Saturday 2 - 10PM. A handful of other labels will also be just around the corner at Tir Na Nog for the Friday Local Band Local Beer Day Party in-bar Record Store, so there should be a few places to get your merch.

Kung Fu is also partnering with Square to provide point-of-sale and credit card processing over iPhones, iPads and an iPod Touch.  They are one of the first stores in the country to test a Rover portable WiFi hotspot.  The technological infrastructure should be the easiest, least expensive, and most streamlined part of this pop-up store experiment.

The store will offer merchandise from some of the participating bands, some hard-to-find Panda Bear vinyl records, an interesting selection of items from the KungFuNation.com warehouse, a selection of MERGE Records titles, records by local artists, various band merchandise and lots of T-shirts.

Kung Fu specializes in merchandise and e-commerce stores for indie rock artists, including many of the bands performing at Hopscotch, such as Panda Bear, Tortoise, The Love Language and The Rosebuds, in addition to a long list of artists including Animal Collective, Beck, The Avett Brothers, Sonic Youth, Wilco, The White Stripes, Faith No More, and many more.

We love this and as mentioned many times before….more retail in the DTR please!

Awesome… hey what if it were permanent retail spot?  I’d shop there.

Hopscotch is looking better and better.  YES!!!  It’s really quite past the point of too much to do in only 3 days and I don’t mind.

Great idea. I picked up a couple of t-shirts and would shop there regularly if it were a permanent shop.
