Music

Last Broadcast of WBYE today from 4-8pm

Today, sadly, marks the final broadcast of Wash Behind Your Ears, a radio program on WKNC 88.1, that’s been running for a steady 5 years.  WBYE has been curated (aside from occasional guests spots) by Sam McGuire, aka, BigFatSac.  Through the years, McGuire interviewed local acts and heavily promoted music coming out the area on his radio show.  He is the mastermind behind the past few (and upcoming, hopefully) Double Barrel Benefits for WKNC.  I’m sure he still plans on helping out with that endeavor, but his days as a regular broadcaster come to a close.  Friends and family of McGuire, including Grayson Currin of the Independent, are among the guests that are scheduled to appear.

Wash Behind Your Ears begins at 4pm and ends at 8pm.  Request lines are 860-0881 or 515-2400.

Thanks Raleigh, for five great years.  It has been my great pleasure to rock with you.  And thanks to Vince for the mixes and friendship.

Your radio presence will be sorely missed, as I now will not be comforted by the sound of “headhunters” (along with other sweet jams) on monday afternoon while I drive home from work.

I hope you got that song-as-intro patented with the show title and DJ handle.
