LGBT Center of Raleigh Coming Out Party Saturday

The new LGBT Center of Raleigh, is having a “Coming Out Party” in downtown Raleigh at Moore Square on Saturday, October 17, from 5 to 9pm.

The intention of the party is to let the community know that we are in the process of organizing a new gay community center in Raleigh that will serve as a focal point for the LGBT population in the Triangle and Eastern North Carolina. We have been told that we are the largest city in the US that does not already have such a center.
Admission to the party is free and open to anyone who wants to join in. There will be free live entertainment including a DJ and a rock band. Also performing will be the Gay Men’s Chorus and the Common Woman Chorus. In addition there will be an extensive silent auction and a raffle, and we will be selling wine, beer and soft drinks. Food vendors will be on hand, and entertainment will be provided for the kids.
The occasion will also be the kick-off of our fundraising campaign. We are hoping to find 1000 people to donate $100 and up. These first 1000 people will be charter members of our Founder’s Triangle, and will be permanently recognized at our new center when it comes to fruition.

The LGBT Center of Raleigh is a 501-C-3 non-profit corporation.

How did this event turn out?  Did anyone really even know about it?  I feel like I am pretty aware of such events, but I found out about it when I drove by and saw rainbow balloons in the park.

The event was a big success with way more people attending than we anticipated. And in terms of fundraising it was also great. Les, is it really “lgbtcenterofrealeigh@gmail.com”? There looks to be an extra ‘e’ in Raleigh. Thanks!

Sorry….you got me! it’s spelled just the same as raleigh.
