The grand prize winner of the first Mystery Build contest, Amy Sawyer, interpreted "Puff the Magic Dragon" in a stunning way.  She used the same materials that everyone else had used and came up with an amazing piece.  Most of the entries were quite inspired and prompted Mystery Build to award 10 other individuals with prizes.  If you haven't had a chance to peep the winners of that last contest, go check it out here.  Jeremy Maronpot and Roger Flake set out to create a contest to truly inspire the creative spark in others.  This next theme takes their idea to the next level.  The last contest focused on your favorite song.  Now the folks at Mystery Build want to know "What's your favorite movie?"  Picking favorites is always a tough choice, but deep down you know you have one.  But how much do you love your favorite movie?  Possibly enough to create your own diorama?

So, the contest starts out like it did last time.  You order one of the kits, you get it in the mail.  This replica of a film canister is filled with random materials like clay, fiber, wood, metal…possibly a bar of soap. The kits are 10" wide and 3.5" deep and contain around 2.5 lbs. of materials.  You can take on this task by your lonesome or grab a few friends to assemble a team of artistic interpreters.  You can enter as many times as you want to, but you are not allowed to combine several kits to make some huge epic version of Star Wars or The Godfather.  Hopefully that will not deter you.  But here is something that should not deter any potential contestant:  the grand prize this time around is $5,000!  There is an additional $5,000 in cash prizes, bringing the total in cash prizes to $10,000.  Yes, you are reading that correctly.  Feeling inspired yet?

You have plenty of time with this contest, too.  Submissions are not due until September of 2012!  The kits go on sale December 1st (that's right around the corner).  If you pre-order now, you can save $10.  There are "Gold" and "Silver" kits.  The only difference between the two:  "Gold" comes with a voucher for fun Mystery Build goods.  Either would make an ideal gift for that creative person if your life, just in time for the holidays.  More details can be found at their website:  MysteryBuild.com.
