On this weekend's The Splendid Table with Lynne Rossetto Kasper, the show's reporter Lisa Morehouse profiles the Mexican influence on the Durham based popsicle company Locopops. The segment interviews founder/owner Sommer Bicknel and discusses how she gets ideas for flavors and the flavor influence that stems from a visit to a paletería (mexican popsicle shop) and studying in Mexico under a master paleta maker.
You can hear the LocoPops segment between 09:02 – 14:05 of this week's podcast or go directly to the story on The Spendid Table's website.
Locopops has been open on Hillsborough Street since February 2008 and still continues to flourish, especially with David's Noodles + Dumplings next door. The two restaurants make great flavors for a lunch and dessert combo. Still to this day, the best part about LocoPops is the fact that the over half o the menu is different every single time you walk in the door and you have the opportunity to try a new flavor each time.

Did that last sentence get cut off? In any case, I’ll make sure to check out the podcast.
Wow…..featured on npr, huh? This will open up a whole new market for locopops.
