Come on down to LOVE BUG: The Great Bug Draw Off at 101 Lounge + Cafe this First Friday between 7 and 10 pm, and get yourself some cheap art for a good cause.
Onion Head Monster-Bee by Paul Friedrich.
LOVE BUG will be chock full of good stuff. There’s a bug-drawing competition in three rounds, a collaborative art exhibit on bugs + food + farming, bug coloring for kids, free snacks, and live music. The event is a benefit for local non-profit Toxic Free NC - the same great people who bring you Toxic Free NC Tips of the Week here on NewRaleigh. They work to fight pesticide pollution all across our state by getting pesticides out of schools and child care centers, standing up for the rights of farm workers not to be sprayed on the job, and helping consumers find and afford more locally-grown and pesticide-free foods.
Buggy self-portrait by Charlie Harper.
