Megafaun’s new album, Gather, Form and Fly, which was released Tuesday has received a fabulous 8.1 out of 10 on Pitchfork Media, the online voice for many music lovers in the independent world. One track off the album was already reviewed and raved about on the site in the past few weeks. Check out the full review here. They have gathered and formed, and are now flying high.
Along with a new album’s release comes interviews and in the latest one with Aquarium Drunkard, Brad Cook talks about his love for the LA Lakers and pickup games in Raleigh with other local bands. I wonder who those non-musicians he’s talking about are? They must be cool dudes to get to ball with the rockers.

I know it - isn’t this awesome for Megafaun. here’s a tip - when he is in town, Joe plays drums whilst his wife Carson teaches yoga @EvolveYoga. YOGA+DRUMS - CARSON+JOE, AMAZING!!!
I’m happy for Megafaun and Bowerbirds and everybody, but I really am curious as to how one gets a review in Pitchfork. My band’s put three albums out, with nary a mention. I don’t mean to be a hater, but it’s frustrating. back to the drawing board/grindstone, I guess…
Its important to recognize a band with such an amazing amount of talent, drive, and hard work!! But it is also important to remember the great label they have teamed up with this time as well!
