On Monday, Pitchfork wrote up Kaufman’s Ballad by Raleigh’s Megafaun. The track is the latest sampling of the upcoming album, Gather, Form and Fly, from the street ballin’ folkers. Pitchfork gave them a 7 out of 10 which is quite good and they should stick around for Best New Music on the homepage for a week or so.

While in Schoolkids today, the album was playing and I found myself sticking around a bit longer than I should have while purchasing a copy of the new Akron/Family album and a used copy of Midlake’s Trials of Occupanther. The album sounds amazing from what I have heard. While Bury the Square was good, this is Farmar better than the last album already…and Brad assured me on the basketball court today that the vinyl is gonna be hot shit.

Gather, Form and Fly is out on July 21st and Oh Man, they are touring with the Bowerbirds.  As Grayson, at the Indy, put it….NC Freak Folk Forever Ya’ll!

Megafaun are awesome. If you’ve missed the chance to see them live don’t pass it up next. Proud that they call Raleigh home!
