For some reason, controversial NFL quarterback and dog-fighting federal felon Michael Vick has decided to celebrate his 30th birthday at Club Raleigh Live in Downtown Raleigh on Saturday June 19th (tomorrow) I’ll let this flyer speak for itself.

Que the anti-black clubs comments and high-horse riding, over-zealous, never forgiving animal-activist hatred for Mick Vick.

Ha, exactly Daniel smile though it won’t be as bad as it would have been a few weeks ago. The bandwagon hippies have found a new public figure to direct their “activism” on. Thanks, BP! :/

Look forward to reading about this party in the papers on Monday!  Wonder how big his entourage is?  Bigger than Rothlisberger’s?!

I’d rather be a douche than a bandwagon hippie. The guy killed dogs, who cares? I kill dogs.

JESUS CHRIST. Hating Michael Vick has nothing to do with “anti-black, high-horse riding” B.S.  The guy is a low-life, hating him doesn’t mean you’re a “bandwagon hippie”, it means you have some morality.

Michael Vick is a piece of trash. I’m not a hippie by any stretch, but I do own a Pit Bull.  I believe the only appropriate punishment for Vick would have been a fight to the death in a metal cage.

I think the flier is ill and hope that Amanda and Ke’Swanna tear the roof off, hopefully it lands on Vick.

    @The Jenius

Mike Vick spent a year and a half of his life in prison for fighting and killing dogs.  But you think this isn’t enough to genuinely change a person?!  What Vick did was despicable, but that was then.  Spend 24 hours in prison for your transgressions and see what kind of change in your mentality comes from that! After all these years, if you are incapable of forgiveness for a person who killed dogs, as if they were humans, then you are the piece of trash!

You want the world to know how pretentious and self-righteous you are for condemning a person to death for fighting and killing dogs; that’s your real intention, not justice or rehabilitation, just your own self-righteousness.  If it had been one of your friends that you had been doing such a thing behind your back, you would have forgiven and reached out to him or her well before now!  But the fact that it is a black, rich, popular athlete gives you false-cause to say things like “I believe the only appropriate punishment for Vick would have been a fight to the death in a metal cage.”

Your thinking is more despicable than Vick’s ever was!

“Mike Vick spent a year and a half of his life in prison for fighting and killing dogs.  But you think this isn’t enough to genuinely change a person?!”

It may have changed him, we don’t know. The fact is that he fought the dogs which inevitably killed dogs. Dogs that are stolen from homes like mine, dogs that are for people who can’t have kids, their children. Dogs are more than you think to the human race they provide comical relief at times, protection for people, companion animals. They give some people someone to talk to. And then come along people such as Michael Vick who fight who in return is also in return is not helping us fight the BSL is just making it worse. But instead of punishing the people who cause dog bites or dog fights they are going to take away a breed of dog. THAT IS DESPICABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the typo but it won’t let me fix it :D

    @ JBethann

You said, “It may have changed him, we don’t know. The fact is that he fought the dogs which inevitably killed dogs”

We know he fought and killed dogs!  That has been well established.  I have been a dog breeder all my life!  But, if you have ever spent more than an a few hours locked up, then you know what it does to a person!  Think about a year and a half behind bars!  And you want to say “... we don’t know…” if it changed him?!  That is ludicrous!  He didn’t receive a slap on the wrist, got the book thrown at him! He has paid his debt to society!  And if you were more than just a bandwagon conformist and actually followed and understood Vick’s situation, you would know that since he left prison he has spent his time trying to eradicate dogfighting by conducting numerous conferences and interventions with young people and other dogfighting offenders as an effort to becoming a solution to the problem.
Everyone agrees that what he did was despicable (everyone’s favorite word), but are you going to hold it against him for the rest of his life, even after all he has done to make amends for his actions!?

doesn’t even matter about the dogs - what’s the point of celebrating the birthday of an over-hyped, over the hill, not even worth wasting a pick on your fantasy football league player? Isn’t there another mediocre letdown worthy of partying with in Raleigh that night?

Events like this one make me question whether the guy is sorry, that’s the thing.  I looked it up and he hasn’t done anything about dog fighting; he paid money into an escrow account to help care for and rehabilitate hurt dogs, but that was because the court told him to.  He has a long history of shady behaviors and after prison he did not go out and do anything to clear his name.  Now I don’t want the guy to suffer, and I’m sorry he has apparently had some financial troubles (although they all seem to be his own fault).  But all things considered he got off light AND he has not shown himself to be any less selfish or immoral than he was before.  And the folks who are defending him by calling the rest of us “hippies” and whatnot - you’re just making yourself look like fools.  I wonder what your reactions would be if he had murdered your pet!

isn’t that kind of why he’s celebrating his birthday in RALEIGH? :D

    My thoughts on this.

Michael Vick did some horrible stupid things and gave up a year and a half of his life as a result. Do I like the guy? No, but I believe in forgiveness and letting people have a chance to redeem themselves.

Those that call him despicable and aren’t vegetarians need to point their own accusatory finger up their ass. How is killing an animal for your entertainment (Humans don’t need to eat meat to survive. They do it because they enjoy it.), hunting for sport, or dog fighting any different? It’s because we westerners like dogs and think they’re like little people. Koreans like to eat dogs but I don’t see ordinary people bitching about that like they do with Michael Vick.

Why is this even news on this white middle class blog? Y’all don’t usually give a fuck about anything the black community does anyhow. Nary a word about what the black community is doing in the area, but Michael Vick comes to town and it’s worthy of discussion.

I wish I’d see this before the event so I, along with my fellow animal lover friends, could have protested it.  What a sick, cruel, disgusting individual Michael Vick is!  Calling dog fighting and killing ‘immature’?  Seriously?!

Let him be.  He did the crime and did the time.  Good enough for me.  He lost $100M over a very bad thing but time to move on.  Sounds like it was fun.

    Daniel A,
Right on man.  Plus, dog fighting is a cultural thing you must remember.  Niggers do it all the time.  And, mexicans fight chickens.  They are all animals no matter how big or small.  The fact that you condemn him for it makes you a piece of trash.

You know what activism really is? We all go and bring our dogs and hang out in their around-the-corner line to the door.
