As part of this weekend’s Artsplosure, Mirazozo, a light/sound/art/architectural experience opened yesterday in City Plaza. In what has been likened to being in a womb or a cathedral, Mirazozo is a large inflatable mix of tunnels and open spaces that create beautiful light displays with the sunlight coming through the silver vinyl walls. “These neon-like seams induce the visitor’s gaze to shift between different organisations of the same view. This is the same effect that one encounters in the geometric surface design of Islamic art and architecture. Mirazozo will also feature several dodecadomes (domes based on adaptations of the dodecahedron) and a large central dome.”
Being inside was slightly discombobulating at first, but then immediately the place inherently makes you begin to relax. The creators, Architects of Air, encourage laying around and taking your time to enjoy what the space has to offer. For $5, it is definitely worth a stop, if not for the photo ops alone. It’s the big inflated thing in the middle of City Plaza that looks like a moon bounce, you can’t miss it.
Mirazozo hours:
Thursday & Friday, May 13-14: 1:00pm - 7:00pm
Saturday & Sunday, May 15-16: 11:00am - 7:00pm
