You can now review the Moore Square Master Plan over at the City's website. (over in the right column under Draft Moore Square Master Plan Report you can Download the Draft in PDF form)  The site plan (seen above) has essentially been refined to add more detail to where exact elements that were alluded to in previous iterations are now located. They better make plans for a bunch of cigarette dispensers for all the smokers that are going to flock to the new space to avoid being ticketed.

The Moore Square Draft Master Plan Report is now available for public review on the City of Raleigh’s website, and can be found by following the provided link here.  The report is on the right hand side of the site under the title Draft Moore Square Master Plan Report.  Hard copies of the report will be made available at Chavis Community Center, 505 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd; Top Greene Center, 401 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd; Frank E. Evans Building, 2401 Wade Ave; and Raleigh Urban Design Center, 133 Fayetteville St.

Presentation of the Draft Master Plan will given by Christopher Counts Studio at the Parks Recreation Greenway Advisory Board (PRGAB) regularly scheduled meeting February 17, 2011, 5:30 PM, at Chavis Park Community Center, 505 MLK Jr. Blvd.  The PRGAB will receive public comment on the Draft Master Plan to inform their recommendation on the plan to City Council.

How about some elevations of this homeless campground/playground? I’d love to see it from this vantage point while seated in a F-18 but I’m too old to join the military now. The person from the State Historic Preservation Office must have slept through all of the meetings.

See those benches on page 13 of the PDF? Homeless proof! Now they’ll have to sleep in the new sheltered, heated restrooms!

The design and development phase along with construction documents process is unfunded.  Huh.

“* Public input is included as part of the design/development and construction documents process; however, these two processes are currently unfunded.”

I think it will be very nice once it’s complete. Hopefully they give jobs to people that need them to complete the program.

The designer successfully incorporates many wishes from the public forums while protecting those great oak trees.  I hope we don’t lose any elements due to cost; the plan as designed is great!  Amongst other features, I particularly like the expanded lawn and the altered topography.
