Release Date now July 28, 2009.
We reported two weeks ago that Rolling Stone had released a small amount of information about the new Avett Brothers album I and Love and You. Now Grayson Currin over at the Indy has published his interview with the group at SXSW that goes a bit deeper into the album, new songs, Buddy Holly, Enrique Iglesias, The Everly Brothers, Nat King Cole, breaking strings with Rick Rubin and more.
Four songs off of I and Love and You have now been released, many of which The Avetts have been playing live on their “600 shows since Emotionalism”. WOW! If I’m not mistaken, Emotionalism was released on March 15, 2007. That’s two years ago, which is 730 days. That’s one show every 1.2 days. The 4 songs (of 17 which will probably show up on the album) are “Kick Drum Heart,” “I and Love and You,” “Tin Man,” and “Slight Figure of Speech.”
Also a great editors note from Grayson about the I and Love and You album cover.
[Ed.‘s note: The proposed cover is a vaguely lugubrious painting by Scott Avett of a woman against a black background, with a painted font that’s somewhat suggestive of the Black Sabbath cover font, but condensed and colored.]
