Since first talking about the diner coming to Glenwood South to replace Hard Times Cafe, Niall Hanley, the businessman behind the restaurant has released more information.  “The Diner” will be the name of the restaurant and it will be open from “early morning to very late-night.”  Just as some had wondered- the menu will include your typical diner fair but also upscale items and a full bar. The restaurant is expected to open by the end of the year.

I’ll wait to see what the actual hours are. It seems to me the Raleigh has a shortage of 24 hour places, but then I’m not as young as I once was, and could very well simply be unaware of what’s available, but I can see the use for a new restaurant that caters to the off-hours crowd. If they’re not open late enough to catch the night-life on their way home, then it seems like it’s just one more restaurant to look forlornly at as your stomach growls on the way home from a late night down town.

Hope they offer a real, hand breaded chicken fried steak.  Can’t find one anywhere.
