Mr. Red Wolf 2011: A Redhead Male Beauty Pageant on Thursday

If you missed out on the Mr. Red Wolf 2010, you missed quite a fun male beauty pageant. This year, Mr. Red Wolf 2010, Brian Shaw returns as a celebrity judge with Carla Rea, loud-mouth Raleigh icon and Allison Butler, representative of the ginger female world to judge a bunch of redheaded men strutting their stuff on the Kings stage. The lovely Tula Boxx will return as host once again.

The winner will be determined by a combination of judges' scores and crowd response so each contestant should make sure to bring a cheering section. There will a interview and talent portion. The interview portion will be judged more heavily than the talent as we want this to be a personality pageant as opposed to a beauty contest. The talent portion will have some real talent (think musicians) and some stupid human tricks (think putting your whole fist in your mouth). More contestants are still needed so email redwolfraleigh@gmail.com to enter. You can show up on Thursday night to enter, but there's not guarantee there will be space left by then, so email now! One stipulation is that contestants must be redheaded....if that wasn't obvious.

The prizes are a crown, sash, scepter, $150 cash prize and, most importantly, the title of Mr. Red Wolf 2011 for the rest of your life. It's something you can tell your grandchildren about. Mr. Red Wolf 2011 is right after the Food Truck King at City Plaza so it will be a great, cheap dinner and a show option all within two blocks of downtown.

Mr. Red Wolf 2011 Beauty Pageant is at Kings Barcade on Thursday, Oct 20th at 9:30. Entrance is $5.

Go over to the Facebook Event Page for more info and we'll see you at the pageant.

Why not have this at the state fair, cause that’s where you really want to have it. “That’ll be $1.”

^I agree.  Both the food truck event and events like this would be awesome at the State Fair.  I’m at a draw between the State Fair becoming hipper or the State Fair remaining the same ol’ agriculture, WRAL, mullet-spotting, and overpriced food and rides.  Honestly, the Fair is supposed to be broad enough that there should be a place for everyone.  Next year let’s see about creating a special “downtown village” exhibit.  We’ll recreate a little microcosmic zeitgeist inside a tent next to Dorton Arena.  We’ll charge middle school kids from Clayton five tickets to experience what it was like to get drunk at the JP and ride your fixie in to a Stop sign. smile
