This Sunday, April 25th, Durham will play host to the NC Maker Faire. The event is organized by the creators of MAKE magazine, and is coordinated by locals in the Raleigh-Durham area. The annual event is intended to bring together creators of all types, which includes “Makers, Crafters, Inventors, Evil Geniuses, Scientists, Artists, and anyone else interested in learning.”
A larger version of the festival took place in California in 2009, and the organizers are hoping that the NC event will also draw a large crowd of individuals interested in the DIY lifestyle. Creators will showcase their wares, which run the gamut from arts and crafts to electronics to food and clothing, with a common theme of sharing inspiration and a sense of inventiveness with one another. Live musical acts will perform throughout the day at the festival site.
The Maker Faire is a free event, and will take place at the Loehmann’s Plaza on Hillandale Rd. in Durham this Sunday from 9am-9pm. For more information, visit the NC Maker Faire website.
