NC Museum of Art on The State of Things

Frank Stasio spoke with Museum director Lawrence Wheeler and Chief Curator Linda Dougherty on WUNC’s The State of Things on Friday about the art museum’s new collection to be installed in the new addition by Thomas Phifer.  Along with the Frank Stella painting that is under repair and the Rodin collection that is coming, the museum has received a large amount of abstract expressionist paintings and artwork.  Wheeler states that all of these new paintings and the Rodin collection will be unveiled when the extension is opened.

“It won’t only be a new building, it’s going to be a brand new experience for the collection.  There will be works of art that have never been seen in this context…“  Wheeler stated.

Construction is ahead of schedule and the building will hopefully be finished in Fall of 2009 but the collection will not open until April of 2010.
