Grad Students from NC State's College of Design are bringing a much needed stage and shade structure to Durham's thriving Central Park. The stage is a part of the original DCP master plan, and the site was secured with the help of professor Randy Lanou and architect Ellen Cassilly.
The project is currently under fabrication, and is slated to be installed by the end of summer.

The project's success depends, in part, on a Kickstarter Campaign aimed at bringing the project to full funding. The Kickstarter campaign ends Saturday, July 23rd. We'll keep you posted as construction progresses.
Who knows, maybe if we're lucky the next design build studio will find a suitable site and cooperative partners here in Raleigh.
Additional fabrication photos can be found here.

it would be awesome to have this in Raleigh, but there are too many conservatives to have anything interesting anymore.
Art and architecture are secondary concerns—all they want is a pile of money to jump into.
If we were keeping comment scores, you’d easily get ten points for that Scrooge McDuck reference.
Nice jab at the end of the article
