The Nevermore Horror Film Festival, now in its 11th year, takes place at the Carolina Theatre in Durham this weekend. Boasting a total of 9 new feature films, 4 previously released cult faves, and 14 new short films, the program should appeal to a wide array of horror and gothic film fans in the triangle. The festival doesn’t stop with the films; the Carolina Theatre transforms its lobby areas for the festival theme, including spooky decorations (a favorite from last year was an electric chair replica) and horror film memorabilia. Vendors will be on hand selling a variety of products, and this year a zombie walk will take place outside the theater on Saturday afternoon at 2pm.
The festival staff have confirmed the attendance of several of the films’ directors and producers. According to their website, the following artists will be in attendance this year, and on hand after screenings for Q&A sessions:
Kevin Tenney, Director, Night of the Demons and Witchboard
Joe Allen, Producer/Composer, Bonnie and Clyde Vs. Dracula
Chase Bailey, Director and Amy Greenlaw, Media Rep, Crooked Lane
Jon Binkowski, Writer/Director and Ben Kupfer, Producer, Scare Zone
Sean Cain, Director, Silent Night, Zombie Night
Richard Dutcher, Director/Writer, Evil Angel
Spencer Estabrooks, Director, Deadwalkers
Mike Turner, Director, Dead Creek
John Weiner, Director, Cryptic
Individual film tickets are $8 each. More information and a full list of films and screening times can be found at the festival’s website or their Facebook page.
