Just a couple of weeks before headlining the Cherry Bounce stage at Raleigh Wide Open and a over a month before their Sophmore album, Such Fun, is released, Annuals are teasing us with one track from the album.
Don’t let the dramatic artwork above fool you, Annuals are not blazing red on this new track. Confessor, the first track on Such Fun, sounds like a hybrid of Sunfold and Annuals. It must be hard going back and forth from spastic rock to dramatic emo and this track illustrates both sides of the band’s identity. The song isn’t as sharp as most of the tracks that come out of the Annuals camp. Let’s hope the rest of the new album is a bit more blazing than this track….
I also hear that the new album is all over the place and there are even a couple of country songs on Such Fun. Maybe the guys (and gal) had “such fun” making the new album that they have lost the spark that ignited Be He Me…..October 7th will hopefully prove this speculation wrong.
Stream/buy the track on Annuals myspace page
Annuals also play Lincoln Theatre with Minus the Bear on October 29th.
Here’s the newest video for the song “Sore” off of their split EP Wet Zoo with Sunfold.
