Birds of Avalon will follow 2009’s intensely beautiful Uncanny Valley with a self-titled album in 2010 that will be out on January 11th on Portland’s Bladen County Records (which also released The Love Language’s self-titled debut). Birds of Avalon is another analog-only collaboration with Mitch Easter (REM, Wilco, Pavement) at his Fidelitorium Studio.
Birds of Avalon cover
If you are familiar with the Birds of Avalon record catalog, the new album will fit right in with your understanding of their sound. But, there are a few more layers on the new album that weren’t present on the former releases. The new album seems more focused on instrumentation rather than the rocking vocal led tracks of some of the previous albums and there are even a few tracks that some international flare. The new album also finds the rest of the band members harmonizing more and spreading out the vocal tracks among them more.
We have the first track off of Birds of Avalon’s upcoming self titled album for your listening pleasure below. Check out Invasion, which is a classic rocking BoA tune that hints a bit at the other layers I mentioned. There are some amazing tracks on this album, Invasion is only the beginning.
