Last year, the North Carolina General Assembly passed legislation to create a grant program to help private companies and non-profit organizations, as well as local and state government groups to develop sustainable technology. Hopefully, these technologies would be commercialized for the benefit of our environment.
The NC Green Business Fund is designed to provide funding for the development of biofuels, energy efficient buildings (and their components or processes), and environmentally conscious technologies and products from the private sector. Basically, the solicitations are wide open as to who can apply and for what.
This is an important step for North Carolina as our government begins to officially recognize the ill effects of the human race on the planet. Raising awareness and promoting technological advances are among the most important things we can do today for our environment.
Submissions are open through the end of April, and guidelines can be found here.
