Maybe you’ve heard the buzz surrounding Raleigh’s new time bank, Oak City Time Trade, or even caught the presentation at ideaSPARK. The website is up and transactions have begun. This Thursday, November 12, 2009, Rebus Works will host Oak City Time Trade’s kick-off party from 6:30pm - 9:30pm.
The idea of a time bank is to build community, foster empowerment and equality, and save money by rewarding members for each hour of work they do for someone with an equal amount of someone else’s time.
The Oak City Time Trade is up and running—come celebrate with us! Learn more about the time bank, meet the members, sign up, enjoy food, drinks, and jams!
DJ Gonzo is going to funkify the night.
Lone Rider Brewing Company (of Raleigh) is graciously providing a free beer tasting.
As always, Rebus Works will have a stunning collection of art on display and for sale.
Potluck treats will be available as well. Members will receive one Time Dollar for bringing a home-made dish to share. Please message Robin Koch at le.robo@gmail.com if you will be bringing something so she will know what to expect.
To join the Time Trade, you can sign up at the party. Annual dues are only $16. The first 50 members to join receive two free Time Dollars!
Kids are welcome, although we don’t have any kids activities planned. Bring the family—bring your friends! I can’t wait to see you all there!
