Press release from The Obama Campaign for Change:

Raleigh Change Crew Training (Official CFC Event) (Organizing)
Barack Obama’s Campaign for Change is taking North Carolina by storm. We are setting up an unprecedented grassroots effort across the Tarheel State and we need your help. Like Congressman David Price said at our Durham office opening, we’re taking North Carolina town by town, block by block, and house by house. Together, we can turn a rubey red state bring Obama Blue in just over 90 days. This Sunday at 5pm we’ll meet at our Raleigh HQ (130 E. Morgan St.) and offer a training for anyone who is interested in taking a leadership roll in our neighborhood Change Crews. Change Crews are the foundation upon we will build and expand our grassroots effort. You and a team of your neighbors will be responsible for turning out the vote in a specific “turf” that is assigned based on where you live. A committee of people who are interested in helping with voter registration, data entry, phone banking, canvassing and other field efforts will be given the tools and the training by the campaign that makes them a fully operational arm of the Campaign for Change! Together, you and thousands of others statewide will help turn a ruby red state bring Obama BLUE! Staff members will conduct the training and then will be on hand to answer any questions afterwords. Bring your family and friends, neighbors and coworkers so you can begin to set up your Change Crew that night. We look forward you seeing you this Sunday!

You can RSVP here.

so, are articles that highlight non-democrat party (not just the other “major” party) candidates not allowed on this site? Or is this a one-party site?

    seriously…

Has McCain opened a Raleigh office?  Has he visited our fair city?  First another candidate should make some local news before having a post on a website dedicated to our fair city.  I am in no way connected to this website but that is my opinion.

You’re right that this should be covered and NewRaleigh.com staff has every right to cover what they want and not cover what they don’t want.

But, there have been other events that are not, let me say, on the left side of middle that haven’t been picked up. For example, my dad was part of an anti-taxation rally at the end of June that was held downtown. I think that’s news too.

Now, if its that the staff only wants to write about their guys, no problem but I guess I’m just wondering why the coverage is so one-dimensional. I guess Tim’s comment basically told me that that’s what is happening.

Scott, if you want to write some Ron Paul stuff for us or anything else, we generally accept any articles as long as they aren’t slanderous or press releases.  Its a volunteer effort and several writers are Obama fans. I agree that any downtown rally is news, we just don’t have the time or knowledge to cover them all. Writers who request it are given unfettered access to the software and allowed to write what they want with minimal/no editing and no review prior to publishing. If you don’t feel like writing, feel free to submit tips to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)

    Scott,

I will also point out that we have covered when the Head of the RNC came to town and when Nader spoke in Raleigh.

Sadly, McCain/Palin have passed over Raleigh for other NC cities throughout this campaign or we would have covered them as well.
