That is pretty cool. Awesome that we are a battleground state.

  • Mark10/28 09:41 AM

Looks like the Independent (bring back the Spectator - this paper stinks) is a Barrack “Hussein” suckup (where are the McCain Updates?).  This guy is a Harvard puke, who cares NOTHING about the people.  His wife should pull a Barbara Streisand and leave the country “first time she felt American” up yours!  How dare she, when military people have been fighting for this country for decades - for her freedom.  This guy is a far left, , he said (“Islam”) radical terrorist supporter with NO EXPERIENCE.  I have friends and family in Chicago, this guy has done nothing for that state, let alone a country.  Even Biden says we are in trouble with him in office.  Good luck America.

  • wow10/28 10:16 AM

    And McCain would be better?

Sorry, I do not want an average person (outside of him being a war hero) running this country and I definitely don’t want Palin anywhere near Washington.

    Obama 08!

  • Bobby McDonald10/28 10:52 AM

No matter who you support, you should do it with a bit of class.  I realize that the internet is not the best platform for a reasoned argument but we can try.

It’s a sad day when a goofy name and something someone else did when you were 8 are the main talking points for the far right.

  • MT.Net10/28 11:09 AM

I love making the wingnuts cry.

  • rifraz10/28 03:20 PM

Does anybody know how many people can fit into Halifax Mall?  How early would you suppose one would have to show up to get in?

  • Ken Metzger10/28 04:02 PM

I would be amazed (delighted?) if Halifax Mall would fill up.  I believe that is about 7 acres of open space.

  • Jenni10/28 10:59 PM

I’m still on the fence about voting Obama.  I like his message, but am concerned about his experience.  I really like Nader’s policies, but he doesn’t have a chance in hell (but it would be nice if he gets enough votes to force a third party ticket).  BTW - Halifax Mall is big!  It’s going to be cold… bring a coat.

  • Ryan10/29 12:26 AM

As an Iraq veteran I have cast my early vote for the only one who supports the veterans, Obama.  If McCain is going to be a Warmonger and put my my military brethren’s lives on the line, take care of them when you are done with them.  Turn off Faux News and look up voting records.  http://www.votesmart.org/election_president.php

  • revolu10/29 12:26 PM

Well it might fill up.  I was just down there and can’t hang around till 1 to hear him speak and I wasn’t sure if i’d get in anyways.  the line is over half a mile long.  Sweet atmosphere out there.  Good to see so many people at a rally.

  • I heard10/29 01:48 PM

I hear the estimate was at about 25,000 people!

  • Crystal10/29 03:55 PM

It was a great event!  I was glad to be there.  The news said 28,000 attendees, but I don’t know.  It was pretty darn packed, though!  The line snaked blocks and blocks and wrapped all around for more than a mile, and this was after the first 10,000 already got in.

  • Lisa Creech Bledsoe10/29 04:01 PM

If anybody finds skycam photos, I’d love to see ‘em. Enjoyed all the Twittering from the event, since I didn’t go.

  • TSnow2760410/29 04:08 PM

I was there and there were still thousands (including me) in line when he started talking.  I do know that at some point they stopped letting people in.  A buddy of mine and others were turned away by the police.  I think we all saw a preview of tonight’s primetime address.

  • cm10/29 04:18 PM

My oh my Obama, has truley pulled the wool over a lot of eyes. I’m sure he’s going to become our next president, and that is very discomforting. I don’t trust this guy at all. I especially don’t trust his wife. Just remember when this socialist, racist, terrorist gets into office that you put him there. Will see how happy you are with your vote a year or two from now.

  • Jim10/29 06:45 PM

I look forward to Barack discharging a few rounds from his skyward-pointed AK-47 with a burka’d Michelle beside him on Inauguration Day.

Hah!  It’s great fun that people actually believe Obama is a terrorist.  Rich stuff-keep it coming!

  • Smitty10/29 09:40 PM

Saw his motorcade leaving the airport, he was late as usual.

  • Crystal10/29 10:46 PM

cm, that is really funny.  You’re so sure he’s pulled the wool over our eyes, but he hasn’t even had a chance to be president yet.  But I’d bet a lot of money you voted for our George W. who had 8 years and basically ruined our country in countless ways.  So maybe you should just take a deep breath and consider the fact that your presidential predictions don’t turn out that well.  I think he’ll do a great job and I certainly hope he wins.  Go Obama!

  • rb10/29 11:01 PM

i think CM speaks for too many americans. i just had the most remarkable (AWFUL!) conversation with my father-in-law, and was shocked to hear that his mccain vote basically comes down to his own racism. it’s sickening. after seeing obama’s ad tonight, i’m pretty sure the only people who wouldn’t be moved by him are flat out afraid - but not of anything of real substance, only his race and some irrational fear that he plays with terrorists. i just can’t believe it. this election shouldn’t even be close… Obama should be running away with it. but too many americans are still afraid of someone who isn’t the standard: a white man. it makes me think some things will never change… sad.

  • David10/30 08:32 PM

He’s not very far ahead because he and Biden are the most liberal ticket in history, and most people are middle of the road, leaning slight right. Its as simple as that.  His race has helped him as far as votes much more than anyone could speculate about it hurting him so thats not an issue.

  • cm10/31 09:24 AM

    ,,,,,,,,,,DO I HAVE THIS STRAIGHT?

HIS FATHER WAS A BLACK AFRICAN MUSLIM FROM KENYA .  WE HAVE SEEN PICTURES OF HIS AFRICAN FAMILY.

HIS MOTHER WAS A WHITE AMERICAN ATHEIST FROM KANSAS .  WHERE ARE THE PICTURES OF HIS AMERICAN FAMILY?

HIS FATHER DESERTED HIS MOTHER WHEN HE WAS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD AND WENT BACK TO AFRICA BY WAY OF HARVARD UNIVERSITY .  HOW?  WAS HIS FATHER WEALTHY?

HIS MOTHER MARR IED AN INDONESIAN MUSLIM AND THEN MOVED TO JAKARTA WHERE HE WAS ENROLLED IN A MUSLIM SCHOOL .

WHEN HE REACHED HIGH SCHOOL AGE HIS MOTHER SENT HIM TO HAWAII TO BE WITH HIS WHITE GRANDPARENTS AND HE WAS PUT INTO AN EXPENSIVE PRIVATE SCHOOL.  HE LATER WENT TO HARVARD UNIVERSITY .  HOW?  W ERE HIS GRANDPARENTS RICH?

HE LIVES IN A $1.4 MILLION HOUSE OBTAINED THROUGH A DEAL WITH A WEALTHY FUNDRAISER.  HOW?

HE ‘WORKED’ AS A CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVIST IN CHICAGO .  HE HAS NEVER HELD A PRODUCTIVE JOB OR RECEIVED A PAY CHECK THAT WAS NOT GOVERNMENT-FUNDED AND/OR TAXPAYER SUPPORTED.

THE PRESIDENCY IS NOT A CIVIL RIGHTS POSITION, NOR IS IT SUBJECT TO AFFIRMATIVE ACTION SET ASIDES;  ON-THE-JOB TRAINING WON’T CUT IT.

HE ENTERED POLITICS AT THE STATE LEVEL AND THEN THE NATIONAL LEVEL WHERE HE HAS MINIMAL EXPERIENCE.

HE IS PROUD OF HIS ‘AFRICAN HERITAGE’  (A FATHER WHO GOT A GIRL PREGNANT AND DESERTED HER).

WHERE IS THE PRIDE IN HIS ‘WHITE HERITAGE’? (A MOTHER WHO FLAUNTED CONVENTION AND DID NOT BELIEVE IN GOD).

SOME MIGHT THINK THERE WAS NOT MUCH TO BE PROUD OF EITHER WAY.

HE BELONGS, AND HAS BELONGED FOR OVER 20 YEARS, TO AN ‘AFRO-CENTRIC’ CHURCH IN CHICAGO THAT HATES WHITES, HATES JEWS, AND BLAMES AMERICA FOR ALL THE WORLD’S PERCEIVED FAULTS.  (INCLUDING CREATING THE AIDS VIRUS IN ORDER TO INFLICT IT ON AFRICANS).

HE REPEATEDLY WHITEWASHES THE PASTOR, HIS CHURCH AND THE MEMBERS WHO CHEERED AFTER HEARING VITRIOLIC TIRADES AGAINST AMERICA .

HE COULD NOT CONFRONT HIS PASTOR BUT HE WANTS US TO BELIEVE HE CAN CONFRONT NORTH KOREA AND IRAN ?

    YEAH RIGHT ! !

DURING HIS VERY BRIEF TIME IN THE UNITED STATES SENATE HE HAS MANAGED TO AMASS THE NUMBER ONE ULTRA LIBERAL VOTING RECORD OUT OF THE ONE HUNDRED MEMBERS.

HE HAS VOTED CONSISTENTLY FOR BIGGER GOVERNMENT AND HIGHER TAXES.  HE HAS VOTED FOR BIG ENTITLEMENTS AND LEGISLATION THAT WOULD SEVERELY CURTAIL AMERICA ’ S ABILITY TO FIGHT TERRORISM AND TO PROTECT OUR BORDERS AND OUR NATIONAL INTERESTS AROUND THE WORLD.

BUT, HE IS A GOOD ORATOR.  ISN’T THAT A COMFORT?

YEAH, I THINK I SEE HOW WELL HE COULD UNITE THE COUNTRY.

I THINK THE TRUTH IS THAT HE HOPES NO ONE WILL PUT THE PIECES TOGETHER.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO OUR NEW CHIEF PILOT. HE HAS NEVER FLOWN AN AIRPLANE,  IN FACT HE HAS NEVER EVEN SAT IN THE COCKPIT, BUT HE SAYS HE HAS RIDDEN ON PLANES BEFORE. WE ARE SURE HE WILL GUIDE US SAFELY THROUGH THE STORMS WE MAY ENCOUNTER ON THIS FLIGHT.

PEOPLE WHAT ARE YOU THINKING? HAVE YOU NEVER HEARD THE STORY ABOUT THE WOLF HIDING IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING SO HE CAN DESTROY THEM FROM WITH-IN ? THE HAND WRITING IS ON THE WALL, DO YOU NOT HAVE EYES TO SEE IT ?

THINK LONG AND HARD BEFORE YOU VOTE FOR THIS GUY!  CONSIDER YOUR KIDS & GRANDKIDS.

THEIR FUTURE IS IN OUR VOTING HANDS.

  • Ken Metzger10/31 10:13 AM

I have no idea why I am actually responding, but…

“HE HAS NEVER HELD A PRODUCTIVE JOB OR RECEIVED A PAY CHECK THAT WAS NOT GOVERNMENT-FUNDED AND/OR TAXPAYER SUPPORTED.”
Actually, John McCain never has:  Military, and then Congress.  Obama worked for the private Chicago University, but why that matters I am not sure.

Why does it matter if his mother was not religious, or that his father was Muslim?  Who cares that his parents separated?  Why spread hate about his father, who died when Obama was two?  Why do we care if his parents or grandparents were wealthy?  What about living in different countries and states is bad?  I would believe that a varied and word-wide experience would be valuable.

Your comments are more hate filled than the average comments coming out of Rev. Wright’s sermons.  If you understood how left out of the political process that many blacks feel they are, you would understand their reaction to a rousing speech.  Sure Wright made some regrettable things, but Obama has never iterated anything close to hateful.

“DURING HIS VERY BRIEF TIME IN THE UNITED STATES SENATE HE HAS MANAGED TO AMASS THE NUMBER ONE ULTRA LIBERAL VOTING RECORD OUT OF THE ONE HUNDRED MEMBERS.”  This is my favorite argument, but I actually would like him more if it were true.  The referenced list is from the “National Journal”.  They list whoever is running for president as the “most liberal”  It is a completely fake tag they make so all the rambling idiots can quote it.  Kerry was labeled as the most liberal four years ago, and if Hillary Clinton had won then she would have won the label.

Lastly, stop with the all caps.  It makes you seem like a truly insane rambling lunatic.  Just present arguments, no need to shout.

  • Al10/31 10:16 AM

No, you don’t have anything straight.

You are an idiot. You fear blacks, Muslims, and atheists. What else?

You know what I fear? Crazy right-wing holy rollers like yourself. I’m so sick of you morons and self-righteous mudslinging.

Can you address any ISSUES? REAL ISSUES? Can you explain to me the difference between McCain’s tax plan and Obama’s? I bet you can’t.

You probably gather all your information from email forwards.

  • GB10/31 11:07 AM

    cm, you crazy.

  • Betsy10/31 02:29 PM

@ cm:  that rhetorical device you used—argumentum ad allcaps—very convincing.
