All this talk about green architecture and the identity of the USGBC has generated a local concern for more discussion on these issues in Raleigh.
On Thursday, these issues can be discussed informally at The Borough over drinks, Green Drinks. Green Drinks is a grassroots organization that is active in over 280 cities worldwide and claims to be an “organic, self-organising network.” It looks to bring together like minded individuals in various professional fields under a common goal to save our planet. The event is open to the public, free, and does not require an RSVP. It does, however, require an open mind.

Join us at The Borough for a cold beverage and a short dialogue on the City of Raleigh’s Environmental Advisory Board!
Date: Thursday, Oct. 25th
Time: 6 - 8 pm
Location: The Borough, 317 W. Morgan St., Raleigh, NC
Speaker: Denny Murphy, Chair of the City of Raleigh’s Environmental Advisory Board (EAB)
The EAB was established by the City Council to advise them on matters related to environmental quality and to promote communication between governments and the public on environmental protection standards and policies. The first three items that Council has referred to the committee are:
1. Vehicle fuel efficiency to include consideration of the
feasibility of reducing the city’s reliance on fossil fuels by 20%
over the next five years.
2. Energy efficiency in existing and new city facilities.
3. Implications and desirability of the City’s abiding with the
provisions of the Kyoto protocols to reduce the emission of
greenhouse gasses. There will be a 15 minute discussion and then we will commence with our usual networking and socializing.
Come join us for a cold beverage and networking with other green-minded people!
