The Loners is a two-man garage rock band, with the two-man thing keeping things righteously primitive. And Patty Hurst Shifter has always found just the right blend of hooks and breathing room in its ‘70s-radio-ready guitar anthems. Factor in the Irish bar locale, and if you can’t find anything—music-wise, beverage-wise, culture-wise—of interest, then you might very well be the goner here. That pretty much sums up the bands themselves. One might wonder if Goner will have their 3rd album available. All that’s available is a listen-only tune, “Hella Jean”. The Loners are going into the studio (or may already be there) to work on their 2nd full length. They may be going into hiding for awhile, so this might be the time to check them out. This will be the first of 3 shows this month for PHS. All 3 PHS shows will take place in Raleigh.
