Back in March, we posted a preview when Portraits of Raleigh: Series One opened that included images from Series One, Two, and the digital projections for the slide show. Here’s another sneak peek at some of the photos in store for Series Two which opens this Friday night at the Raleigh City Museum.

The shuffle of houses on Blount Street a few months back was not the first time Raleigh has thrown some historic houses on wheels. Marshall Wyatt captured this shot back in 1979 when the Lucy Moore Capehart House was moved to Blount Street. This house was designed by one of Raleigh’s most beloved architects, A.G. Bauer. This image is one of the printed pieces for Series Two.

Portrait photographer Elizabeth Galecke shot this poignant image of some of Raleigh’s senior citizens. This image is part of the digital projection selections for Series One and Two.

This celestial image of some of downtown’s hidden streetlights shot by Jake Kitchener is one of the digital projection selections for Series One and Two.

Natasha Johnson shot this image of the downtown skyline using infrared photography, which accounts for the strange tint of the sky and trees. This photograph is one of the framed selections for Series Two.

Ryan Irelan’s photograph, Reflections of Old and New, was taken in 2005 on Fayetteville Street before it was converted back to a street. In 1977, the driveable Fayetteville was converted into a pedestrian mall in order to increase downtown commerce, but construction began to switch it back in 2005 after realizing cutting off downtown’s main artery may not have been the best thing. This photograph is one of the framed selections for Series Two.

Carson Boone’s photo of a motorcycle convention in the 1970’s is on of the digital projection selections for Series Two.

This image by Shawn Rocco depicts downtown growth exemplified by it’s architecture, and is one of the digital projection selections for Series One and Two. Rocco has several pieces in the show, all of which came from his current photography series, Cellular Obscura, and were taken with a cell phone.
Series Two opens with a First Friday reception this Friday, June 5th, from 6:00 to 9:00 with live music by the Southern String Band, and food courtesy of The Mint.
