R-Line Begins Service on Friday, Feb 13th

The R-Line - a new bus loop serving the downtown area, and connecting to Glenwood South, the Warehouse District, and City Market - will be free of charge.  The city has dedicated two 36-seat buses to the route, and claims a 10-15 minute headway (that is: a bus will arrive every 10-15 minutes at every stop along the route).

During the day, the R-line will serve mostly as a connector between the Convention Center and Glenwood South.  After 6:30pm, however, it will expand to serve downtown nightlife by passing through the Warehouse District and City Market.

Regular weekday hours for the R-line will be 7:00am-11:00pm, but on weekends (Thursday-Saturday) hours will be extended to 2:15am.

This is great news for downtown and Glenwood South. What competitive threat will this pose to Raleigh Rickshaw? Any?

great way to celebrate my birthday! I can’t wait to take my first trip. Hopefully it is a step in the right direction. Good mass transit in Raleigh is long overdue.

AND it’s not a second class form of transportation! don’t be scared to ride a bus.
