Election Day is going to be rainy in the Raleigh area; better bring your poncho. If you have any spare time, ponchos, jackets, coffee or anything please bring them to polling places for people standing in line. For those of you who will be waiting in the rain (hopefully lines won’t be as long with the high percentage that has already voted):

• All North Carolinians who registered to vote before October 10th are eligible to vote.
• Polls are open from 6:30 a.m. To 7:30 p.m.  ALL voters in line at 7:30 p.m. have the right to vote as long as they remain in line.
• To make sure your vote for President counts, you must vote for President separately.  If you vote only a straight party ticket, you have NOT voted for President.
• You do NOT need to show ID to vote unless this is your first time voting in North Carolina.

NPR explored the Link Between Weather and Voting Patterns yesterday.  They say “Republicans should wish for rain.”

i think the weather forecast is appropriate for the event.  honestly, this whole race to the white house has had all sorts of ups n’ downs, smack talking, murder plots, false witness….i’m sure we’ll see a movie about it in our lifetime…but the rain is important.  as a metaphor in film, rain means that something is changing.  let’s all hope for that happy ending.
