For anyone that missed the Raleigh Comprehensive Plan Draft Open House on December 3rd, there are opportunities in December and January to learn about the plan and make comments on the public record. The City website says that “depending on the quantity of comments received on the public review draft, a complete and finalized draft is anticipated to be presented to the City Council at a public hearing in Spring 2009,” which implies that your input will have an impact on at least the date of completion, if not the content, of the final plan.
Two types of meetings are scheduled. Go forth and make your comments. Ask tough questions. Encourage your city government to guide Raleigh’s growth and development in a way that you see fit.
Citywide Public Workshops are the chance to make public comments in person. Register there, or in advance. There will be three, all in mid-January:
CITYWIDE PUBLIC WORKSHOPS
The program includes a brief presentation followed by an open house. Summaries of key elements of the draft Comprehensive Plan update will be available. Important policy maps from the Plan will be on display, including a new land use plan. During the open house experts will answer questions at tables dedicated to each element of the Plan. Comments will be collected and compiled for the public record.6:00 p.m. Registration
