A collection of cutting-edge Raleigh-based artists will be creating a new and revised creative skyline for the Capital City!
Raleigh is growing fast with ripe, colorful, dynamic artistic talent. Unfortunately the unplanned, soulless sprawl that has dominated the construction to accommodate the sudden growth is bland, drab and boring. What Raleigh needs is a skyline that is inspired by what we love so much about this thriving city. Something that reflects the growing soul of our dynamic capital city. On October 8th, UpRock Creative & The Faculty will present Raleigh, SKYLINED.
A collection of 35+ Raleigh-based artists and artisans will paint, draw, sculpt and customize a vertical plank of wood. This piece of wood will depict a building that is directly influenced by the city of Raleigh and the inspiration it has given each artist. These buildings will vary from technique, medium, execution, concept and inspiration. Once completed each “building” will be hung bottom-justified and stuck side-by-side to give the appearance of a redefined, artist created, soulfully reflective Raleigh skyline. Urban sprawl, outta here. The artists have arrived.
