A spotlight image of Barack Obama has been broadcast over the Raleigh Times in downtown Raleigh, in what appears to be Greg Hatem’s formal endorsement of the Democratic presidential candidate.
UPDATE: Goodnight Raleigh has a much better image.

There have been Obama posters in the front windows at Raleigh Times for a while now.
As a Democrat, I find this troubling and embarrassing.
What is this, the bat signal?
As a Democrat, i find this to be something to be proud of.
I’m wondering why this would be troubling and embarrassing. What’s the difference between this and putting a sign on your lawn or a bumper sticker?
The overall emotional tone of this entire campaign has bothered me. The idea that so many people are putting so much irrational “hope” on one person is troubling. I am optimistic that Obama’s policies will be beneficial for our country, but I do not share the same adoration of him as a man (or myth) as most other Democrats seem to. I find it embarrassing because it is over the top, sentimental and tacky. You do your cause no service by behaving like a star-struck teenager. It is also troubling because this kind of cult of personality never leads to anything good and is exactly the stuff that totalitarian regimes are made of. It’s wrong and dangerous no matter what the motivations and no matter how inspiring you find someone. Everyone is fallible.

Cat,
The difference is one is ridiculous and the other is not.
Democrats drink beer? Or do they serve Cosmos at Raleigh Times?
Knox: Question… How do we call him?
Gordon: He gave us this signal.
At least the projection deal won’t ruin the paint on the car. (And presumably won’t be left up for the next 4 years)
David, all politicking aside, Times only has one of the better beer lists in Raleigh, including a nice selection of Belgians.

I thought it was Al Gore?
Oh wait… you’re right. My mistake.
